As of Jan 2021, a current South Carolina license or registration is required to engage in residential building, specialty contracting or home inspecting activities in this state, as defined in S.C. Code of Laws Title 40 Chapter 59.
The requirements to get a Home Inspector License in South Carolina are as follows:
- A state application prepared by the Commission
- Membership to an organization approved by the SC Residential Builders Commission
- Take a two-part examination
