Sliding (Patio) doors

Sliding (Patio) doors

Description A sliding door moves on rollers inside a track that is the bottom of the door frame. Most sliding doors are large pieces of glazing surrounded by a frame made from metal, vinyl, or fiberglass. One side of the door is usually fixed and the other side is active; however, large sliding doors have more than one moving section. Sliding doors often are equipped with a sliding screen. Sliding doors are made in standard sizes. Height is usually 80 inches. The most common widths are five and six feet with other widths available, usually by special order.

Installation Sliding doors are installed like hinged doors. See Hinged Doors. Proper installation is important because sliding doors are heavy and minor installation errors can have a significant negative impact on door operation.
