The requirements to get a Home Inspector License in New York are as follows:

  • Complete a course of study of not less than 140 hours approved by the Department of State, Division of Licensing Services. Of those hours, 40 must be unpaid field-based inspections under direct supervision; or have performed no fewer than 100 home inspections (paid or unpaid) under direct supervision
  • Pass the National Home Inspector Examination
